It is year 2050. Quantum energy technologies, advanced internet, robotics, bionic, semi-living things etc., are the common technologies to name a few. Life is so fast. It is a time, AI is taking away the jobs, livelihoods of many people.
AI may have beat human knowledge in mass production but Innovation was something that AI didn't have a chance at. I guess, it still needs a lot of data, learning to be more human to understand the needs and necessity of innovation.
In this fight for survival, a group of Russian scientists invented a satellite equipment "Edge", that could push any region of world into different timeline for a short duration of time. The goal was simple. If you don't have the best AI, have an AI that has an advantage.
It is known that Google search engine, scans all the websites with its bots and indexes them. This makes web search easier in finding what you are looking for. There are websites, built by many advanced hackers, which are so transparent that Google bots can't catch them, even in plain sight. Black market platforms utilize these kinds of protections from surfacing into normal world. CIA, NSA and many other secret organizations pay huge amounts if you could even catch the data from such places, let alone, shutting them down.
Edge's technology is so advanced, that people couldn't believe even after witnessing it. The knowledge on the matter quickly spread so wide that for the first time, black markets have become so active. One such platform "The Wild" accidentally surfaced. Many government secret organizations immediately captured the gist of what has happened. The higher authorities of various countries started to panic because they don't have a clue on how they can overcome such technology, just like, we fear of what we don't know.
It was not at all surprising that the technology was sold for trillions of dollars in the black market. Many countries started their trials on creating their version of the equipment. Few countries like US, Israel succeeded due to their exceptional scientific intelligence. Some trials in other countries went berserk and caused a lot of casualties, which didn't surface to outside world. Russia, fearing experiments in other countries, continued its research and crafted its technology to a peak level. Now it is at a level to dominate the entire world. But nobody knows of what kind of consequences arise later.
Time to go live. Russia, planned to aim its weapon first at US economy, which is its backbone. Making US lag by a second is all that Russia needed. All the US economy's data will be disturbed which will create internal conflicts that has no immediate solution. The second target is US Army bases. Russia will throw the bases into later timeline and fire its mass destructing weapons. By the time, those base army realizes, the base is out of the picture.
The plan was highly confidential. But its quite imaginable for enemy country. The unexpected thing was even smaller countries tried to exploit the situation as their rival countries may not get support from their big allies US or Russia. It was like, all the people were holding guns. Some big ones, some small ones. The war started. Severe casualties, properties destruction reported. It took only a day to bring the world to complete chaos and turn to stone age. All the accomplishments of generations turned to ash. There was no AI to help people. People came together to help each other. United, worked together to rebuild their nations from rubble.
The next big question in people minds was "What is the time ?"
